Youths angry at the Nigerian government's failure to fight extremists threw stones at President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday during his electioneering convoy in the eastern town of Jalingo,Taraba state.
They broke several windshields and windows,Police used tear gas and whips to disperse the mob,in another incident,angry youths,also stormed the state secretariat of the President's party,the People's Democratic Party,PDP,and vandalized the building and parked vehicles.
It was reported that over 300 youths took part in the attack,and they came with vehicles and arms,a security officer said that he ran for his life when,when he saw the youths approaching the secretariat.No fewer than 10 vehicles were damaged while the building was damaged in different places.
Jonathan flew to Yola the capital of Adamawa state from Jalingo.
It can be recalled that the presidential cavalcade had been stoned in northern Katsina city and northeast Bauchi,Youths in Bauchi flung shoes and plastic bottles at him.
The protesters shouted that Jonathan failed in his duties to protect the lives of Nigerians and to fight Boko Haram.
