Queen Elizabeth II now world's oldest monarch.

Queen Elizabeth II was just 25 when she acceded to the throne.she celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 2012,making her one of Britain's longest serving monarchs.
Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born on April 21,1926,in London England to the second son of George V Albert, Duke Of York, and the Duchess of York, the former lady Elizabeth Bowles-Lyon.Her sister Princess Margaret was born 4 years later.
In 1936,when she was 10,her uncle King Edward VII(aka Duke of Windsor) abdicated the throne to marry a twice divorced American named Wallis Warfield Simpson. He abdicated because it was against the tradition in England then for a Royal blood to marry a divorced lady, talk more of a King.
This abdication then created chance for Queen Elizabeth's father,to ascend the throne since he was the next in line, therefore Elizabeth then became Heiress Presumptive, meaning that she would become queen only if her parents did not have a son.
She met her husband Prince Phillip,at the age of thirteen, when he was 18,they got married on November 20,1947 and one year later they had a son, Charles Phillip Arthur George,In 1950,they had Anne Elizabeth Alice;in 1960 Prince Andrew; and in 1964 Prince Edward. The queen and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 20,1997.
Queen Elizabeth found out that her Father had died of lung cancer, when she was in Kenya with her family in 1952,so she came back and ascended the throne.
The queen who will be 89 in April will also become Britain's longest reigning monarch in September, thereby beating late Queen Victoria.
The Queen is now the world's oldest monarch following the death of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah who was 90,was two years older than the queen who will be 89 in April. She is one of eight octogenarian monarch in the world, with others including the King of Thailand and the Emperor of Japan.

Her 62 years on the throne still leave her some way short of being the world's longest reigning monarch, for now the longest reigning monarch in the world is King Bhumibol Adulyade of Thailand, who will celebrate 69 years on the throne in June,he was just 18 years old when he became King.
The longest reigning monarch of all time was Sobhuza II of Swaziland who ruled for 82 years from 1899 to 1983,though the Egyptian Pharaoh Pepi I is said to have reigned for up to 90 years having come to the throne at the age of six, however some historians believe he reigned for 64 years.
The queen is the second-longest reigning monarch in British history, behind her great grand mother,Queen Victoria, whose record she is due to surpass in September this year.
