The current INEC chairman,and an academic former vice chancellor of Bayero university,was born today 11,January in Jega village,Kebbi State in 1957.
He attended Sabon Gari town primary school Jega,between 1963 and1969,and proceeded to Government secondary school Birnin Kebbi,and was later admitted into the Ahmadu Bello University college Kano in 1974 graduating in 1979 with a second class upper division Bsc degree in Political Science.
He is a former president of Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) and he served from 1988-1994,he was also an opponent of Babangida's military government in the early 90's.
He was nominated by President Goodluck Jonathan as the INEC chairman on 8th of June 2010.
