Florence Nkiru Nwapa was born on 13 January Oguta, Imo state,Eastern Nigeria in 1931, and by then Nigeria was still a British colony,she was the first internationally published female novelist in the English language,and her novel Efuru is among the first English Language novels by a woman from Africa.
She went on to become one of the first African woman publisher of Novels when she founded Tata Press,she is called the Mother of Modern African Literature.
She died on 16th October 1993.
