Today in African History

Robert Mugabe returns.
On this day,January 27,in 1980,exiled Rhodesian(Now Zimbabwe) Leader Robert Mugabe  made a triumphant return to his home country after five years in exile,The Rhodesian black leader spearheaded a guerrilla war against the Salisbury government.
Cheering Crowds greeted Mr Mugabe's arrival in the capital,Salisbury,from Mozambique where he has been gathering support for his Zimbabwe African National Party(Patriotic Front) or Zanu(PF) party.
The Nationalist told the crowd that there would be no more injustice based on race or color,during the rally Mr Mugabe spoke in his native tongue,Shanu,,appealing to Rhodesians to stay in the country,so that they can constitute a nation based on national unity.
He promised to develop the country and also accused the British Governor,Lord Soames of manipulating the political situations in Zanu.
